Avro Vulcan factory numbers

Hi, was there ever any published material concerning Avro factory numbers?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything on construction numbers for any of
their aircraft.

I’m interested to know Vulcan factory numbers if anyone has them or knows
where to obtain them. Thank you.

The problem is that historians cannot accept that an aircraft does not have a manufacturer’s serial number, and instead rely on set numbers, fuselage numbers, works order numbers etc. Which may be useful for identifying otherwise anonymous parts, but are not legitimate identities. . .

Thanks for the replies, I’ve got many top books on the Lancaster for example and not a single mention
of factory numbers. It seems to be a system unique to Avro products?

I asked BAE/Avro Heritage the question about another Avro type and got told military aircraft orders were always referred to by serial number, nothing else.

Avro tended to use set numbers, up to and including the ATP. For Vulcans, I’ve seen XH558 quoted as set 12 but I have no idea where that’s from.
