Thanks Hawker1966, despite the weather we had a better than expected turn out and raised over £600 for the Bomber Command Memorial so a good days work. As always it was a great honour to have their company at the museum again. The public are always fantastic making them feel apprecaited and there was plenty of opportunity to talk with them which was nice. We hope to do another next year.
Great news (Prints at the ready)

Hi
I would like to say thanks to the Wings Museum for another great signing event, and it was nice to see so many of the Bomber boys in attendance, (still amazes how good they all look).
Also it was a nice surprise to see one of the W.A.A.F.S in the line up Daphine Brownlie what a charming lady, who was there representing her late husband (a former pilot from bomber command)
Hopefully the Wings Museum will be arranging another signing event in the future as it does generate a lot of outside interest and was well supported.
Thanks again to the Museum and all Volunteers, for a great day a must for anyone who hasn’t yet visited.
Brad.

The weather is looking bloody terrible for Saturday – shame really but it is all undercover so fingers crossed. Have updated page on website, we have a new “Bomber Boy” Harry Hacker 40 Squadron Wellington Bomber Pilot.
A bit of info on 40 Squadron.
No. 40 operated Bristol Blenheim Mk IV light bombers from RAF Wyton from December 1939 until November 1940, when it converted to Vickers Wellingtons in the night bombing role. On the 14 April 1940 one of the Squadrons Blenheims (L9207) was taken on an unauthorized flight by AC2 JFB Lewis and crashed in the Thames Estuary. His body was not found and he is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial. After operating a detachment in Malta from October 1941, the squadron moved there in February 1942, the remaining UK-based element being renumbered No. 156 Squadron RAF.
It later moved to Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and then, in December 1943, to Italy. They participated in the successful Allied invasion of Sicily, concluding in August 1943. The Squadron re-equipped with Consolidated Liberators in March 1945.

A shameful bump on this thread, plus thought I would share a photo of a panel I got signed by John Bell when he was at the museum back in April. I then printed an image of the Thumper III nose art onto decal paper on my colour laser and applied it to the piece of Lanc skin, then I gave it a final seal with matt lacquer. We are making a few pieces of Halifax skinning available on the day to raise funds that you could get signed by the Bomber Boys and maybe do something similar if you wish. And no this is not from the famous collection in London! (see ebay thread if you’re wondering what on earth I am referring to).
