I had a call this morning asking if these bonnet latches were from on old aircraft and where any further ones could be obtained from.
I dont believe they are from an aircraft – but any opinions or advice would be helpful.
They are used on a mid 50’s Aston Martin and the PAT No. is 17218146

Thanks Howard – he says he has found modern replica parts but the quality is lousy…

Hi Brian,
The feedback from NAM is that they struggled to source replacements when working on the Buccaneer and NF(T)14 – so much so, several had to be repaired and re-used on both projects!

Sorry to Bump the thread – but the Aston has to be ready for Goodwood in a month.
If there are not spare catches available – does anyone have any spare panels from Meteor, Hunter, Bucc etc.that have these catches on them – that may be available ?
I am happy to put anyone in direct contact with the needy restorer.
Thanks

How about contacting AM’s factory resto facility? They deal with all AM’s.

Similar on a cessna 152 except that simply has a round opening, the rest is inside.

aeroplane `bonnets` would look much better if we went back to the good old leather straps, dontch know ,wot wot..
That might stop the cowlings coming off Airbus A320s 😀

Similar ones can be found on aircraft `small` access panels,ie grease nipple access…similar in operation, not necessarily design, but if it`s got an `AM` stamp, who cares…bit upmarket really..aeroplane `bonnets` would look much better if we went back to the good old leather straps, dontch know ,wot wot..
