Part number assistance…

Sorry, I can’t help. I have my own question as well.

For Avro parts, was the assignment of part numbers arbitrary in relation to the corresponding drawing numbers?
Is there any way, given a drawing number, to derive the part number & vice versa?

Elliot. Here are a couple of pitcures. The sketch is done to try and portray what the part might look like when new. I am wondering if it could be a wing part with the flat section being the access plate for the joint of the main wing to inboard wing section?

That bit isn’t a part number i’m afraid Peter, it’s part of the inspectors stamp so won’t help ID the part. How about a pic?

Armstrong Whitworth did build Lancaster bombers so it is likely it is from one of these

Hi Sopwith . it is from a Lancaster crash site. I wonder if it might refer to Wing component..

I think it is an inspection stamp from Armstrong Whitworth, if so, then it could be from any number of types built by AW.
