RAF Waddington International Airshow may not have tickets on the gate.

Hi
Just seen this so copy and posted here.

Topic: RAF WADDINGTON AIRSHOW TICKETS

Date: 4 JUL 2013

From: Air Show Office

Distribution: All Media

MEDIA RELEASE BELOW

Title: Advance Ticket Sales Rocketing Sky High

With the RAF Waddington International Airshow only days away, the organising team are delighted to report that advance ticket sales are so high that there is a strong possibility that all available tickets will have been purchased prior to the event and that there may not be any tickets on sale on the day.

On-line ticket sales have now closed but advance tickets are still available until Friday 5 Jul 2013, from local branches of HSBC and Morrisons Supermarkets (Please check the airshow website for local participating branches)

To re-iterate, visitors are advised to buy their airshow tickets in advance from participating outlets as there is no guarantee that tickets will be available on Saturday 6th July and Sunday 7th July.

The Organisers are keen to stress that unless visitors are in possession of an Advanced-purchase ticket prior to travel that they are unlikely to be able to gain entrance to the Airshow.

Got to the end of the queue at about 8.30, got in at about 10.15. The traffic stopped completely for about 20 mins when, so Plod said, because the gates were closed to allow an aircraft to take off (?). When we moved again, got directed to one of the off airfield fields for parking (purple car park, i think). Which meant when we left we found ourselves at the front of the queue to leave and not stuck on the airfield itself, like many hundreds seem to be and moving nowhere fast. So very lucky and can’t complain. Tickets were on sale at the gate.

will be leaving at 4am to get there tomorrow, probably be ok for the first cars to get there say til 9am then I think the same as today will come into force.
Would be pretty sure they will adopt an all ticket show like RIAT next year if it does.

NAM’s already had the first visitors who have given up trying to get into the Waddington Airshow; apparently there’re also travel issues around Newark (A1/A46/A17 junction & in Newark itself), which has caused some passenger delays for the Airshow Helicopter Shuttles that are operating from NAM (people stuck in traffic were late arriving etc.), however everyone has now been safely flown out to Waddington.

NAM is on extended opening from 0800 hours to 1900 hours today and tomorrow.

Hope they put up signs 20 miles out, or there will be some very irate scenes at the gate.

I predict a riot.

Thanks for the heads up there, 11group! Having just arrived from Spain for Waddington, I’d have been none the wiser. Just rushed over to Morrisons in Peterborough and got tickets there.

Good post. Saw this earlier and dashed to HSBC to make sure we got tickets for Sunday. As a matter of interest, does anyone know the maximum attendance allowed (presumably on safety grounds)?
