Latest news on Lightning Cockpit and Propellor from my old ATC Sqdn.

Some of you may remember a couple of threads a year or two back, regarding the sale of a Lightning
cockpit belonging to Rayleigh ATC. As well as them trying to sell a WWI wooden propellor which I had given
the squadron, to be hung on the wall with a clock mounted in the boss.
Well I got some more info while at the Rayleigh armed forces day on Saturday.

The sale of the cockpit apparently went ahead, with it going to a museum in South Africa (?). The person telling me
was rather vague on details, so that’s all I know. Although I seem to remember him telling me that someone at
the museum actually flown that particular lightning.
I do hope they got permission to sell it, as I would have thought that it still technically belonged to the RAF.

The propellor wasn’t sold, maybe due to me registering my feelings at the time. It is apparently being refurbished
at Stow Maries, where it will go on display. The best place for it in my opinion.
