Musical Flea?

I am slightly puzzled that on the Oxfam antiquarian book website, “The Flying Flea” by Henri Mignet (a snip at £50) is listed under music. If there some connection I am unaware of…

Oh come on AA that would be far too sensible. You don’t honestly expect them to do that do you? Whoever did that should take a leaf out of Benny Hill’s book, “Never assume because when you assume you make an ass out of U and me”.

But to return to the original theme, it suggests for someone at Oxfam it has been proved that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Now if he/she had just thought to google the title rather than making assumptions…………

There is a song, “The Flea,” usually performed by a baritone, which is a satirical piece, penned as a political comment on a particular acolyte to (I believe) a Prime Minister.

Strauss, yes I think you are right – I was thinking of Wagner’s The Flying Dutchflea.

Must be due to the sound of the Scott engine ones. I didn’t pay that much for my copy. Only £12.
