At this month’s “open Day” at Chateaudun was a Spad VII, in the markings of that
flown by 2nd. Lt. Ren Fonck, S1461.
Having been unable to find out anything about this particular aircraft, which is
presumably a replica, can anybody let me know please it’s current registration?
Thank you,
George

It is Louis Bleriot’s original (probably Mann Egerton built) SPAD VII that was previously on display at Duxford pretending to be a XIII. It was restored in Angers and it is good to see it out. It was in a pretty bad state when it arrived in France.

According to t’internet it’s an original Spad VII registered N4727V. If that’s correct, it would be interesting to know if it’s a temporary visitor from across the pond or in France on a more permanent basis. There’s more information about it at http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/2000/9378-offer-you-cant-refuse.html.

May I suggest that you post your enquiry on http://www.aerostories.org/~aeroforums/forumhist/index.php. There are a large number of very well informed people who post there and so there must be a good chance that you’ll get an answer there.
