‘JAS’ was a diminutive of ‘James’ !

It was carryng Bulgarian markings: it is said that it was on a transfer flight to the Yugoslavian Air Force but this may be guesswork. It was eventually burned in a big bonfire when spares ran out.
I don’t think it was a D but an M. Differences are subtle, but check the position of the canopy along the fuselage – the profile appears to show an early production variant with the canopy forward.

His name should be spelled Storrar. At least three photos exist of this aircraft.
