Trooping the colour

Starting at 10.30am tomorrow, the flypast is mainly current RAF types, though the second tier of the flypast is the BBMF. 🙂

Anyone know what time the flypast is due?

I have no doubt that the text was pre-written ready to be uploaded but was never checked. Typical of so much editorial sloppiness.

no spitfire or hurricane ……..

not to worry ! the BBC website IN PICTURES : TROOPING THE COLOUR claimed in a caption to the photograph of ‘Crowds – including friends and family of the soldiers taking part – lined the Mall’ went on to state “LATER THEY WATCHED THE TRADITIONAL RAF FLYPAST INVOLVING SPITFIRE , HURRICANE AND LANCASTER A/C AND A DISPLAY BY THE RED ARROWS” !!

ahem !!! someone at the bbc was watching a different programme to the one i saw !!! and since when did a flyover become a ‘display’ by the red arrows ?

Muchos cross-wind at CGY yesterday. Merlin problems focused on fatigue failure of some nuts on Merlins – now replaced.

The commentary referred to the crosswinds being the cause of their absence, but the BBC cannot always be relied on for accuracy.

Any idea why the Spitfire and Hurricane failed to turn up?

I’ve not heard anything official, but crosswinds at CBY may have played up. Baby Spits and Hurricane are limited to 10kts X wind and big spits 15kts.

There have evidently been some technical issues with the Merlins these last weeks, although I have seen nothing about it officially. I think that is why it has only been Griffon Spits flying recently – unless I am mistaken?

13.00.00 until 13.03.30

The entire RAF to pass overhead in 3 minutes and thirty seconds. Blink, and you’ll miss it!
