INfo requested on AVRO/HS 748 'Old Bob'

Greetings all,

One of the AVRO/HS 748s at Blackpool was scrapped at Millom due to site clearance post Liquidation. I had to be sold on E+++Y and was bought for scrap.

I gather this airframe was know as ‘Old Bob’ but I cant verify this.

Does onyone out there know more on this aircraft please? UK Reg/History/etc….

It was put on the fire trg ground at Blackpool Airport around the time of Emerald Air assets being liquidised and was later transported north to Millom with Jetstream 31 G-PLAH.

Many Thanks,

Neil

Neil, I presume you mean “Old Ben” – G-ATMI, HS748 series 2A.

Neil

G-ATMI was once named “Old Ben” (not Old Bob). Here’s a link to an image to a photographer’s Flickr site of it when active and you can see the name below the cockpit windows: http://www.flickr.com/photos/53238830@N07/5750838614/

and another at Millom in the following thread (scroll down to post 297) reporting that example as G-ATMI : http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?73349-RAF-Millom-Aviation-amp-Military-Museum-Update/page10

I have though seen posts on other media which (mis?)identified those remnants as from G-OPFW (the cockpit of which I think is at Doncaster). I never visited Millom so can’t verify.
