Red Arrows Gnat colours

We have the North Weald Gnat here with us at the moment and we are going to get it repainted, but there seems to be some confusion over the correct colour red that the aircraft were finished in during the 1967 season. We have three different reds to pick from at the moment but we need the correct one for that year.
Can anyone confirm the correct BS number

Don’t think it was Signal Red, far too “tomato orange” to my memory. All the Gnats at Halton, when I was there in the 80’s, were a bit faded to the orange side of the colour that Signal Red goes after a while. It’s an interesting question though, as Post Office Red (aka Cherry Red/Bright Red) BS381c No538 is a bit on the pinkish side, if you know what I mean. I thought I’d got the Warpaint special on the Gnat, but it appears to be absent from my bookshelf. There’s copies available here though : http://www.guidelinepublications.co.uk/index.php?GOTO=127&PICFILE=127&STKNR=127&STRH=&ORDN=&RNZ=864653

If you contact Hannant’s of Lowestoft, they produce a model paint Xtracolor X014 “Red Arrows Red,” which is matched to BS381C:537 “Signal Red,” and they’ll tell you if it pertained to the Gnats.
