I once saw the very same photograph in a book but it stated it was taken at Duxford.

Yes, it was quite common around that period on some squadrons to replicate the serial just there.

Is that the serial, painted under the prop spanning the Night/White demarcation line? Looks like it might be **798. K9798, perhaps?
