Is the famous SWAMP GHOST B-17 to be placed outside on display?

As seen on the Aero vintage webpage about B-17 was a bit on the rare B-17 WW2 era Swamp Ghost in Hawaii and a ???? proposed image of how it will be on display outside with no overhead protection as seen on this link – http://www.aerovintage.com/12446-15.jpg

Is this seriously how the museum wants to display such a important historical aircraft so it rust and fades away? If so im confused and same time very surprised.
I hope the image is just a “suggestion” only from the museum…..

Although outdoors isn’t ideal, (i hope they can give it some cover), I rather like the idea of leaving it on display till restoration can begin.
Granted, as long as deterioration can be controlled.

Agreed.

But however they display it in the faux “swamp” it will be better protected from corrosion than it was in New Guinea, where it would still be if some had their way.

Yup, but only temporarily. Although i am sure temporarily will still be several years.

“Swamp Ghost will be one of the crown jewels in the Museum’s aircraft collection, with plans to restore this aircraft to static exhibit. While funds are raised for restoration, Swamp Ghost will be on display in a specially constructed outdoor exhibit, resembling the Papua New Guinea swamp in which it was found, the perfect backdrop for this historic artifact. Once restoration is completed it will join our other vintage aircraft inside Hangar 79 here on historic Ford Island. “
