I’m a keen collector of diecast models (being from the side of humanity blessed with two left thumbs, none of them opposable….. :highly_amused::apologetic: I can’t make my own).
A manufacturer has announced they will make a model F3 and the first colour scheme appears to be WB-880 all silver, with a yellow band on the fuselage. I wondered if anybody here had any knowledge of that airframe or the scheme?
Google is my friend normally, not so much this time – any info out there at all ?
thank you in advance,

Nothing to do with WB880, To get out of sport, Which my dad hated playing. He went and cut up a DH Hornet with an axe which had belle landed. I have never found out where or which Hornet it was. Now he cannot remember much about it. I to hate playing sport.

This one you mean! 😉
Like Mark said, this was one of several Hornets operated at RAF Seletar by the RAF for pilot conversion and training. This particular one was flown by a friend of mine; Peter Sheppard, who was I believe the last pilot to convert to the type in 1954/55.

I’m sure David Collins will be along in due course and he’ll be able to tell you all you could possibly want to know, but in the meantime I can tell you the little I know.
I drew the illustrations that went in to the Dalrymple & Verdun Hornet book mentioned in the die-cast forum you linked to in your first post. The profile I posted above is one of the 4-view set of WB880 from the book. The caption that accompanied the 4-view gives the basic info of the aircraft, i.e. F.3 WB880 c1955 operated by the Far East Training Squadron at RAF Seletar and RAF Butterworth.
I really like this colour scheme, especially as the spinners are painted in such a way that they form the RAF roundel when viewed from the front.
Over to you DC!
