I picked up a bag of spanners this afternoon. Section Ref. 36M = Napier Sabre engine spares and Napier engine tools.
This is a 1/4″ BSF spanner and there’s a few other sizes, too.
Lovely! :love-struck:

Are they Whitworths? No, they’re Napiers!
Tried and tested on 1/4″ BSF bolt heads and a perfect fit.
As Merlin Pete says, the “one size down” rule applies and a 1/4″ BSF should fit a 3/16″ Whitworth head. It’s all explained here:-

As for how many? Well, rarity adds great value in the collector’s field so I ain’t sayin’ nuttin’..!

Very nice find, how many Napier spanners were in the bag?
When I finally locate a Sabre for my project (notice when…always remain optimistic!!) I will have to see if you are offering a rental service 🙂

The clue is in the first post, the bit where he says “this is a 1/4″ BSF spanner”!
1/4 BSF also fits 3/16 BSW
