All quiet out there so I thought I’d start a thread.
Managed to get to Leiston to watch a truly stirring tribute today. Having caught glimpses of the Eagle Squadron formation circulating over Halesworth in the distance, it was an emotive moment as five small dots slowly grew as they approached. Two circuits and the main formation were gone. However highlight was two further solo passes from Miss Velma (with “Bud Anderson” in the rear seat?) I’m sure that Bud flew “Old Crow” with 357th Fighter Group from Leiston – although someone out there will correct me I’m sure.
The final pass was accompanied by a waggle of the wings – a great tribute.
Minutes later Sally B followed for a single low pass. Shortly after I chatted to a chap who spent his teen years a stones throw from the airfield and has fond memories of working in fields at the end of the main runway.
Marvelous. Congratulations to all involved.

Some very evocative shots of the formation over Madingley posted by PhilW over on UKAR. I’m really surprised at the lack of local media coverage.

Just goes to show that a simple formation, albeit different, can make a nice display.
I think we need a bit more variety like this. Hope they can repeat for legends.

Some pics from North Weald. Because of the headwind there was some doubt whether it would happen. But we did see them, which was great.

When I saw the thread title I was hoping someone had been lucky enough to get some photos and posted them on here. Oh well there’s time yet I suppose (hopefully).

Hoping someone caught them over Bodney, especially as ‘Princess Elizabeth’ was in the formation.
