The Cathedral Service is on Friday 17th May as detailed in this news item http://www.key.aero/view_news.asp?ID=5729&thisSection=historic however all of the spaces have been allocated.

There is also a flypast in Woodhall Spa on the evening of Wednesday 15th May as part of the ‘fund riaser’ at the Kinema / Petwood.

From a phone call I made yesterday to enquire:

The RAF are running the 70th anniversary celebrations, and there will be a flypast over the dam on the 16th may, between 12:30 and 13:00 by the Lanc, 2 Spits and 2 Tornado’s, en route to Chatsworth House, and then RAF Cosford.

The official memorial service will be at Lincoln Cathedral that same evening, but there may be a small service at the dam. (I was nearby at the one given by Al Pinner.)

The dam flypast is a non ticket event, and very limited parking will be allowed via the access road at the side of the dam to the car park, however the road may be closed at very short notice for H&S reasons.

I was given this information by the TIC at the dam, and it would seem that the TIC aren’t really having any involvement this time, reading in between the lines.

Yes, I’d looked at the list and Derwent was not mentioned, I thought it may be incorporated as a flyover on the way to a display.

I have dealt with the applications for three flypasts this year with details confirmed as listed in here! For the first event on 18th May I have already had discussions with the Flight over possible timing, direction of flypast etc. – but it’s still not on ‘the official list’.

On the paperwork you are now told to notify Northolt of your event weblinks etc. and they will then update the listings.

Re the Dambusters commemorations I understand there are Lancaster / 2 Tornado flypasts at Woodhall Spa – May 15th and Lincoln Cathedral – May 17th , which also don’t seem to feature on the lists.

So the IWM are listing BBMF participation by the Lancaster/Spitfire/Hurricane for the Spring Airshow on May 26th, but it is not on the official BBMF schedule.
