Lately, I’ve been brushing up on my scant WWI aviation knowledge.
Can anyone recommend a book on German airship operations over the UK?
I’d prefer to buy through Amazon and here are two likely candidates:
The Zeppelin in Combat: A History of the German Naval Airship Division by Robinson
London 1914-17: The Zeppelin Menace by Castle.
Or any other would also be appreciated.
Additionally, I was also looking at Zeppelin: Rigid Airships 1893-1940 by Brooks…but being an old Putnam book, it’s rather expensive on the used market. If anyone has a copy they’d like to part with, please let me know.

Zeppelin!
Try: “Zeppelin! (A Battle for Air Supremacy in World War I)” by Raymond Laurence Rimmell. Published by CONWAY in 1984.
When I bought in in early 1990’s, it seemed very comprehensive. Approx A4 sized, 256 pages including index.

Not a big book, but very interesting from a local point of view.
Thanks for the recommendation.
I’m looking for a big view, showing the UK’s response as well as the German Naval Airships missions…along the lines of Fire in the Sky….

Depends how much detail you are after.
I bought “Zeppelins over Southend”, written by Ken Crowe from Southend museum.
Not a big book, but very interesting from a local point of view.

Many years ago, I read Monsters of the Purple Twilight and thought it a lot better than the title might suggest.
