Hello everyone, new to this site but not new to aviation!
First thing i would like to say, i have a set of 6 rare drawings of AE (CHRIS) WRENS, WW2 oddentification drawings, that i came across while clearing my dads stuff out.
He was in the RAF during WW2 and i believe he had these pictures, drawn by the cartoonist, A E Wren, on his room wall.
I cant find any other such like pictures anywhere, none on ebay etc etc, and none on a search on the web, so i am led to believe that they must be quite rare artworks.
I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction for selling these pics?
Any help appreciated.
The ones i have are probably the most interesting, as they depict the spitfire, the desert hurricane, the lancaster, the sterling, the mosquito and the typhoon, all cartoonised for easy recognition.
Many thanks.

Are these definitely by Wren or just in the style of Wren? Are they original artworks or prints or cards of some kind? The clouds in the Mosquito cartoon look a bit fancy and ‘Art deco’ for Wren. Ebay for these?

As i said in post #3 – There was a specialist book containing about 18 of these ‘O ..s’ published during the war.

You are correct sir, however, the last publication of Popular Flying was published July, 1939, Volume 8 issue 4. Here are all the covers.
Belforte…….. Thks for the link, interesting. I was certain PF was not published in WWII. The source I checked gives last publication as 1937.

Firstly, welcome to the forum, laurie……….
These cannot have come from Popular Flying, the one publised by WE Johns, as the magazine was published between 1932 and 1937.

Laurie,
You may want to check out Popular Flying Magazine. Those pics look like they could have been cut from the front cover. Without knowing the size of the pics, I can’t be sure.

Laurie, you might start with the right name for Mr. Wren. It is E.A. “Chris” Wren. I would then take them to an art museum to have them authenticated. They can give you an idea of what they are worth and where to sell them. Are they signed?
