On the verge of historic I suppose. Yesterday, I chanced across a scene on TV of Kemble where an ancient gutted 747 was being scrapped. What they did was use hired plant to chew through the rear fuselage so that the tail fell off. Then they used massive power snips to cut through the wings so that they fell off. Actually they met a problem enroute. At one point fuel started pouring out of the wing even though it was supposed to have been drained. It looked quite good fun.
It is a contrast with “real” historic. I saw a photo once of a Lancaster being cut up by men with axes. I understand “man with an axe” was standard procedure at one time.
Bigger aircraft require bigger solutions.
