Nothing to add and was well aware of his aviation history, saw the famous loop at Farborough, and enjoyed his participation in the Comet programme so a book would indeed be fascinating.

He was the leader of the Black Arrows -his aircraft XG194 is now entering the finishing straight of its restoration.

I interviewed him some time ago for the Flying Visit series in Aeroplane and I knew about the 22 Hunter loop. What I didn’t know was that he was a Glider pilot in the war and listed his worst experience as going into operation varsity hearing the shrapnel hit the glider and knowing he was not about to fly home.
A nice guy too.

Sounds like a very interesting man.
I first heard of him after finding out he had been one of the pilots in the 22-Hunter loop at Farnborough in the fifties. I think he flew in Forumite XE584’s Hunter (one of the “borrowed” jets which did the loop).
I saw Mr. Topp on the Comet 1 disasters programme recently and hadn’t, up until then, known he had been involved in the investigations. I suspect he has a lot more stories to tell.
Yes, Mr. Topp, let’s have a book of your experiences. I shall be keen to read about them.
