Thanks all, its a cap for the tail turret reservoir/header.
I’ll have a look at the suggested cap.
Have you got an internet link for the Brown Bros cap?

Tank Cap
Try AGS607. They come in Brass, Gunmetal or Aluminium. 2.625″ Dia x 16tpi; Brown Bros Catalogue p72
Hope this helps. Anson might be similar.

Anyway….. is the cap fitted on Grahams tank of the correct type? If so, it is a standard cap of the day and I may have a spare.

Graham it is nothing like i have seen on any lancasters.. Like I said it could be lincoln maybe.. who knows.. Noone is accusing you of false information.
See attached pictures..
first is the main hydraulic reservoir tank
the second one is the hydraulic tank for the Lancs gun turrets.

Made by A V Roe with and EA code I am sure there were several different types fitted and not sure you can say for sure it was not fitted I am not in the habbit of putting false descriptions . It now sits in my rep Spit as the hydraulic resivoir for the prop drive so no longer for sale,I forgot to remove it a situation now rectified

Lancasters had a much larger tank and the tanks for the gun turrets were smaller.. could be lincoln?

Same as a Stirling one I think, which are the same as a lot of old motorcycle oil tanks(british) and some lawnmower fuel tanks.
