My reply appears to have disappeared, to repeat: Hi Jules, I (Colin’s cousin) am responding to your “tunic post” on Colin Downes’s behalf; we have only just become aware of the post. Colin is still alive, in reasonable health for his 91 years. he is interested where you discovered his tunic; he had left his old tunics at his mother’s home, as he moved on; she has since died. He is not seeking to retrieve the tunic, in fact he’s flattered that you purchased it. Rather he is simply following this link to his past out of curiousity, and would appreciate your reply, either via this thread, or preferably direct to email: hobartplaty@bigpond.com I thank you in anticipation, Regards, John (Downes.

thanks Paul

I have just purchased his Officers tunic, all badges stripped, but what is interesting is the red silk lining………………a trade mark of 601 squadron pilots
any one with a list of 601 squadron officers, late war/post war ?

Cheers

Jules
