I read in the latest Flypast that the prototype A/W Argosy at Yankee Air useum is to be scrapped?? Such a shame…:confused:

I’m not sure how the type is viewed within US aviation in general, but it should be remembered that from the types’ point of view the US was a tremendous success, what with the early Riddle orders (later used by Capitol & Zantop etc) and the last Argosy in commercial service with Duncan.
Shame the first aircraft (no prototype as such) can’t be saved, but as said difficult to save them all.

Yes it would, but a long way to move by road. There’s another one at Fox Field, Lancaster as well.

It’s a shame, but I doubt the Michigan climate has been kind to the airframe. It is a big beast for any museum to look after, and is a type without great significance in the US. Sad, but you can’t save them all.
