Evening all…
Has anybody got access to and is kindly able to provide a scan of the Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report for Bf109E-4 coded 5+I of 7./JG53 flown by Uffz.H.G.Schulte? This example belly landed near Vincents Farm, Manston on 16th September 1940 at 18.30hrs.
Many thanks in advance 🙂
Pete

Peter
That is very kind of you – but I do have a very high quality scanner but it wasn’t hooked up to my new PC and the other was on the blink.
Now sorted, and I will scan and post the report here later for you.

🙂 Many thanks Andy, that would be good if you could! If you need a scanner, I have a spare/surplus which you’re more then welcome to have… drop me a PM if you’re interested…
Also, if you or anybody else knows of crash inspection reports for other white nosed Bf109’s, then please fire away…
Cheers

It is Report No.3 of 9 September 1940 by J A Easton of AI.1(g)
No other reference.
I will try to hook up another scanner tomorrow and let you have the real deal.

🙂 Many thanks Andy… the date is as reproduced from the Jagdwaffe volume and I should have stuck with the date I’d seen elsewhere. Thanks also for the clarification of what the report says. I had seen this on a modelling forum here, but I just needed to see the actual report for myself or post a copy on a current LEMB thread discussing the validity of white nosed Bf109’s. Have you got the Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report number/reference please?
Cheers

Just as a follow-up, a couple of photos you may not have seen. One of the aircraft at the crash site, the other of the same aircraft in France (pre red cowling band/white cowling):

I haven’t got a working scanner at the moment, but here is a transcript. I’m afraid you have the date wrong. 6 September not 16 September.
“Me.109 Crashed at Vincents Farm, Manston, on 6/9 at 18.30hrs. Markings 5+I in white. White cowling, spinner and rudder. Camouflage mottled light and dark green and grey. Thick red band around cowling painted out. Aircraft constructed by Erla Werke Nr 1506 dated 1940. Fitted with DB601A/1 engine, Mercedes Benz work nr. 62611. Cause of crash uncertain. One wing buckled, otherwise condition of aircraft fair. Standard armament and bulkhead together with pilot’s head shield standard.”
I have quite a few photos. Hope that helps?
Unfortunately, a few years back somebody copied a whole load of photos from my collection for their own use and then made free with them by supplying to the publication mentioned above.

Many thanks for the pointer and thanks for looking 🙂 I have the Jagdwaffe volume you mention and would dearly like to see the Crash Report from where the comments were drawn, especially with regards the white cowling this example apparently wore – as can be seen here
Cheers
