I’m searching for the right markings for a model kit that I would like to build in the near future as a sort of commemoration of Spitfire MkIX PT718 and its pilot Niels Buchwald who crashed at my grandparents farm. This happened at Oct. 13th 1944 during the Battle of the Scheldt, my family initially buried him just outside the farm in a well-kept grave, in 1946 he was reburied in Denmark. http://www.danishww2pilots.dk/profiles.php?id=17
The Airfix kit I have bought is of the right type of Spitfire, a MkIX and even has the decals for the right squadron, No 222 ‘Natal’ Sqn. but these are of the ‘ZD-B’ MH434. I was wondering if anyone could help me out in finding the right letter replacing the “B” which is connected to PT718? Every site I have found so far only mentions ‘ZD-?’ for this aircraft. Thanks very much in advance.

Thank you for your encouragement. It’s a sort of hoping, wishing and waiting for the right person to read this, it is maybe a slight chance but if there is a place, this would probably be it. All in all it is more or less my personal link to WW2, apart from the fact that my family had a small part in helping the local resistance (hiding some people and a radio in the house, whilst at the same time 100 German soldiers occupying the yard!) something I’m still proud of.

Sorry I cannot help you with your question as the book I have “Look Straight Ahead” by Ernie Burton only covers 222 Squadron during the Battle of Britain.
