Horrible Histories? Wasted on kids!
Having done a bit of supply teaching in primary schools the kids can’t get enough of HH and know the words to all the songs (and as a grown up I can’t get over what superb parodies they are – Adam and the Ants-style Highwayman is genius). Kids of today loving a show about history? This has got to be a good thing.

It’s a cracking video that tells the story concisely and with humour. the HH series is a great way of teaching history to children IMHO.

Hahaha, brilliant! 😀
Neat idea, depicting the story with a “boy band”. Think about it….

Actually I thought it sounded like a decent candidate for our next Eurovision song. At least we should get some points awarded from the Czech Republic and Poland. Wouldn’t worry about losing German points – I’m sure they haven’t given us any in a very long time!

Terry will be very pleased!

In my opinion, the HH team are utter geniuses. As a primary teacher I regularly use their videos, and we even have them in the car to listen to! BoB on is ace. WW2 but not aviation related in the Land Girls song, and for utter hilarity try the Kings and Queens song.
Brilliant.

If this is supposed to be Battle of Britain, why do I see 41 Pattern Mae Wests?
Ooops! At least they got away with the Spitfire IX 😉

I teach humanities (heavy on the History not the Geog!) to students with behavioural and learning difficulties. I was a bit wary of Horrible Histories but have found the videos to be very accurate, engaging and most importantly for my students, concise!
They are often my first port of call when looking to illustrate a point as extracts from “Talking Head” style documentaries are often far less accessible for my group.

Meant with humour and affection! 🙂

The books were a big part of why i enjoyed history, that and Shuttleworth 🙂

The Horrible History writers do a very good job of telling a story.
Some of their routines are quite clever!

Well I have never seen that before or any of the horrible histories programmes, but I think it’s great and done in the right spirit. As said above, if it gets a few youngsters interested then job done. Modern times call for a different approach.:)

Hi Phil,
I thought you were someone called Daniel so I notified you here that someone called Phil Buckley may have plagiarised your posts on Hyperscale unless you were the same person. Anyway I noticed you are the same person so no one has been taking your copy.
Cheers,
