You want to read the whole thread, the early ones are from a Halifax pilot, on one trip Flak exploding under his tail plane and flipped him inverted over the target… His final mission to Berlin he was dropping his bombs when a 109 formatted on his wing, pointed to his guns, shrugged, saluted him, then peeled away. 😮

My saddest thought looking at those images is that they would have been so much better not to have spent all that time camouflaging the parked-up Battles.
A large illuminated sign pointing to them would have prolonged the unfortunate crews lives immeasurably.
