I gather that ‘Battle for Malta’ will be repeated on UK BBC 2, Sunday 13th January ’13 at 8.00pm.

Hopefully I will not miss it this time!

James Holland is a fine presenter. I second Charlie’s remarks. I was stationed there near to Sliema – which was mentioned – at St. Andrews and St. Patricks Barracks and remember Grand Harbour stacked full of RN ships of all shapes, sizes and capabilities !

I also found it a good program, but they will insist on cutting to and fro without enough explanation. Some good old wartime footage.
I have a special interest as my favourite uncle was killed there in 1942.

I enjoyed it. Well written and well presented. No doubt people will complain about what was omitted but in an hour you cannot include everything and it did a good job of presenting the the Battle in its context.

Very shallow and unsatisfactory programme.

What of Park? What of Beurling? What of ‘Woody’? Why not even one shot of a Sea Gladiator?

A very enjoyable programme. Just one thing, did he mention that the Spitfire cannons sticking out of the ground were Oerlikons or do I need to get my ears seen to?

Malta

Just watched it – very good.

Interesting to see the pair of twenty mils sticking out of the ground in that small field where a Spit went in after the pilot had bailed out.

A good well-rounded documentary by James Holland with lots of good war time and modern camera work. The airborne shots were taken from an aircraft in WW2 German markings. What was it?
