I was intrigued by the fact that the N word was not censored in the Channel 5 showing of the film – it was quite clearly spoken – about a half-dozen times – including once by no less than Patrick McGoohan when guarding the briefing room.
Yet in the same film, when shown on Channel 4 last year, the dogs name was dubbed as ‘Trigger’.
I found this on Wiki…..
The British Channel 4 screened the censored American version in July 2007, in which the dialogue was dubbed so as to call the dog Trigger (my underlining)
So, the UK PC brigade are not to blame – and you can clearly use the Nigger word without a problem – as seen on C5.
It was clearly the Americans who objected – and censored the dog’s/dams breach code name.

Did 617 practice with normal Lancs?
Yes – the first flights over the Derwent Dam were undertaken toward the end of March 1943 and the first of the Type 464 Provisioning Lancs didn’t arrive on the Squadron until April 8th.

Where is the Canberra everybody goes on about? I always look out for it but never spot it although I think I spotted the Lincoln last time.
In the scene where they practice bombing the Derwent Dam (Ladybower Reservoir) they have their bomb doors open. Is this authentic. Did 617 practice with normal Lancs?

I tuned in just before the Mohne dam copped it.
You’re supposed to put stuff like that in spoilers, I might as well wipe the bloody tape now! 😡

I tuned in just before the Mohne dam copped it.
And the dog’s name survived the censors…!
