Sir,
After a year which has been challenging both personally and professionally I took my family out, having found a break in our ridiculously busy schedule, to attend ONE airshow. It was a much mooted event and one that I relished for personal nostalgia and because of its atmosphere. There, I met my father and brother, and had a wonderful day. As well as being an utterly fantastic day (despite the protestations of my daughter), I’d had the tenacity to ask for military discount at the entrance and produced my identity card. This is often met with “No, sorry”, and indeed it was with this occasion. I handed over my cash, and was handed my change. This, I took with little initial notice, and placed in my lap prior to parking, but noted the response along the lines of,”Here’s your change, Sir, you deserve it”. I was humbled that I’d paid little to enter the venue, and naturally pleased.
In a nation that allows greater discounts for students than its serving and very active military personnel, I want YOU to know that I ended up putting the cash into a needy charity associated with the venue.
You will know know you are, happy 2013.
Thank you,
Kurt

last year at ********* air day those who were not working and not on base by 06:00 had to pay to get onto their own base, that really peed a lot of people off, balance that against some mates of mine who went over to california for desert hot/high training they got really cheap tickets into all places and the best seats in the venue!
