Concorde at Heathrow – BA News

The British Airways Concorde currently on display beside the Uniform Stores at Engineering Base at Heathrow will be moving to a new home in the middle of next month.

The Concorde – registration number G-BOAB – will be tugged to an area beside the previous Runway Restaurant behind Technical Building E on Maintenance Base.

In its new location Concorde will be visible along taxiway 28L/R by customers as they take off.

The move has been necessitated by the need to free up space for long-haul aircraft winter parking.

The project, which is being led by Property Services with Engineering as a key stakeholder, has involved levelling and concreting the car park that previously occupied the site, making tethering points to tie down the wings and providing drainage to allow Concorde to be washed twice a year in its new home.

Catherine White, project manager Property Services, said: “Concorde is likely to stay in its new location for one year. Property Services worked closely with Engineering to ensure that the preferred location would be suitable and I would like to thank everyone involved in the project for a job well done.”

Concorde G-BOAB flew 22,296 hours between its first flight in 1976 and being grounded in 2000.

Is this one that hasn’t been butchered and could be returned to flight when I win the Euromillions double rollover?.
