Hello everyone,
I would like to know if anyone has any of the original construction data for the Sabre hiding in their attic etc. I am specifically interested in sleeves, connecting rods and various gearing throughout the engine. Any help would be very much appreciated.

“my wife believes I sound like a Sopwith Pup first thing in the morning”.
So does mine.
Barking.
I remember when I attended Warbirds Over Wanaka 2004 with my family – my sister found the sound of the Sopwith Camel replica’s 160hp Gnome immensely hilarious, so Dad would constantly say “Oh there goes a Camel” when the situation presented itself!

Really interested in the booklet you mentioned. Any chance of sharing it please.
I am particularly interested in aspects of reliability and overhaul intervals.
Many thanks

Please keep us advised on date of first flight. Will it be painted as JF-E?

AHA! So one engine is being readied for a rebuild to runnable condition and I gathered there was one plane in Canada (a Tempest V perhaps?) being readied for display and possible flight…?? (reading between the lines).
I hope details can emerge as Kermit Weeks too is interested as he has two engines and at sometime in the future is wanting to get one running.
This is a major undertaking and I for one – as many others – would love to know there is one running. Yes modern materials and manufacturing techniques could have really made this engine run with far less issues of reliability I’m sure. Good luck! Watching with interest…
