Tracy Spaight of World of Tanks has started this Blog – It was suggested that maybe this audience needs to know about it (for those who didn’t already)

Just a few pointers
http://worldofwarplanes.eu/en/blog/aviation-archaeology
The 1942 Spitfire is either P8438 or P8595 which were IIa’s of 133 Sqn which collided over Epworth on April 3rd 1942. P/O Samuell Fisk Whedon #101462American in RAF was killed when his parachute failed to open. He is buried at Kirton-in-Lindsey. The other pilot was P/O William Albert Arends #112280 who survived this incident only to be killed in Spitfire Vb EP168 on 20th June 1942. He was also an American in RAF. There is some doubt about who was in each aircraft and I am hoping someone with the ORB can tell me.
The “1944 Owston Ferry Lancaster” is I think Lancaster III PB565 15th April 1945 of 1667 H.C.U. (Heavy Conversion Unit)
See:
http://www.aircrewremembrancesociety.com/raf1945/2/speedhoward.html
– I can’t find any other Lancaster at Owston Ferry – but over to you
The “Goole Spitfire” is Spitfire I X4818 which crashed 14th July 1943
See http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=58477
I can’t ID the Hawker Hurricane at Grimsby, in the Tetney Marsh – It may be this one Hurricane IIC Z3261 of 253 Squadron crashed 14th August 1942
