In the Bleak Mid Winter

Here are a few seasonal pictures taken at Norwich Airport and The City of Norwich Aviation Museum in the 1980s that may be of interest to some members. The Herald is the one now on display at Duxford.

Very good! Brought back many memories!

I worked for Servisair at Stansted in 88-9, dispatching the F-27s to a range of (fairly local!) European destinations. I think G-STAN was around, but perhaps based somewhere else other than STN so didn’t appear very often. BHMW, BHMX, BHMY, BLGW were regulars on the STN routes – Ah, the smell and sound of a Dart start on a (hopefully!) on-time departure!

I was one of the aircraft staff with DAS/Duxford Displays Ltd when Herald ‘PWJ arrived at Dux, and I did some research on the aircraft so we knew what to tell visitors about her! Would have been about 86, 87 maybe?
