This aircraft Spitfire P8438 IIa crashed 3rd April 1942 at Epworth Lincs. It was being flown by American Samuell Fisk Whedon of 133 Sqn when it was in collision with another Spitfire P8595 IIa also of 133 Sqn (pilot P/O William A. Arends) Both pilots baled out, but Whedons parachute failed to open and he was killed he is buried Kirton-in-Lindsey
Does anyone know when the wreckage of this Spitfire was recovered? I know some bits have come on ebay this year but want to know roughly the recovery date
Thanks
