Air Mileage unit info?

Has anyone got picture of a fitted Mk1 A.M.U. or a schematic diagram to show how it`s connected up please?

Brilliant Tim…….I have part of something very similar in aluminium from a crash and assumed until now it was some sort of crew step(but really too flimpsy for that). Thanks for that.

I’ve just finished this for my Lancaster navigators table build and thought it might be of interest. The AMU and the suppressors will be the same for the Stirling but not sure about the mount as I made it from the AVRO drawings. Once the weather warms up i’ll spray it up properly.

Thank you very much, very interesting. I have the remote compass up and running and I would like to link an API to it for demonstration. So I need to find out how best to feed the speed component into the API….

AMU to API

Sorry, had to empty the attachments to make some space. Here are there relevant ones again.

Connection was either by flex drive or could be electrical.

Not a picture of the installation but perhaps the gen you want is in here, or the next batch:

Any chance of reposting the AMU Mk1? No attachments are visible at the moment….. I am looking for the connection diagrams to see how it connected to the Air Position Indicator.

Page 10

Whoops, sorry. Page 10’s similarity in appearance to page 11 must be my excuse!

The Canberra had of course an AMU Mk4 which was located in a wheel well. Item 14 in that photo is the Air Mileage Indicator which is operated by the AMU.

TerryP, thank you very much for these and for the re-arrangement of the images.

I notice that the end of paragraph 33 & para’s 34,35,36,37,38 are missing. This suggests there is a page between F.S./4 & F.S./5, strangely enough.

I think it might be image 10 in your numbering; between your two batches.

What you’ve given us is great. If there is the slightest chance you can give image 10 as well, that would be even better.

I’ve got a photo of an AMU fitted in a Canberra, don’t know what mark it is but am guessing you are more interested in a Stirling one? There was discussion on the Canberra forum of how it actually worked which I could repost here if it would help.

I am looking for a Canberra one btw.
