As many will know HAC’s Hurricane Z5140 was put up for auction today. As posted on the HAC Facebook page the Hurricane was…NOT SOLD!
It remains in the UK:D

Wow! Lovely to see.
Funnily enough, the second 1940 machine that I have had a little to do with going back a while. It looks a bit different to how I last saw it in France.
What a shame Ken McGlashan is no longer around to see it. He would be thrilled.

It’s the hawker restorations example which was just awaiting its wings a month or so ago. Looks a real stunner!

It’s being restored at Hawker Restorations. Work almost done ! http://www.hawker-restorations-ltd.co.uk/_images/_current/robt/Current/robt.html

re;
Can’t say I’m unhappy about it not selling! With the addition of ae977 and g-robt in the coming months, the uk hurri population is looking decidedly healthy! Also not forgetting arco completing the bbmf example as well!
Out of curiosity, where is the HAC fury at the moment?
Which is G-robt? Is it the Bob mk1 that was being worked on in a garage?

In deepest Kent, I believe!

No, their dampness will all be part of their charm. The sweet scent of tropical rains infused with high octane and oil and delicately coloured Daz-blue from all that aluminium oxide.
How did we get here?
Back to the Hurricane, methinks…..

And scrape all that congealed aluminium powder off them.

I may be able to do some benches from Canadian Pine at the end January.
I suspect you may need to leave them to dry out for quite a while before they’re usable.

Can’t believe Andy Saunders built that, it’s way too sensible, given the madness of most of his creations over the years 😀
And knowing AS, I’m sure he’d be more than happy to build a ‘Turret’ sofa, if someone gave him a turret to start with 😉

Last time I make one of those, then.

Can you do a chair from a rear turret please 🙂

I lost track of it….
How much?

Mr Saunders are you happy with the price your sofa fetched ?:)

In 1979 feminists pressured the World Meteorological Organization, the UN agency that did the naming, to incorporate male names. Until then, windy Hurricanes had all been female. True story.
By: Oxcart - 4th December 2012 at 15:33
Hurricanes (the windy ones!) Have alternate male and female names in alphabetical order these days

Reserve price-lost to reality, maybe!!
Not exactly.
The reserve price reflected the lowest price the vendor would accept (obviously) and the auctioneers felt they would stand a chance of selling it at that reserve. The vendors were not interested in letting it go below that reserve, but had it gone for that, or higher, then the vendor would have sold it. Again, obviously! Nothing to do with the reserve being lost to reality.
Simples!

He has (or at least did have in 2009) a partially restored project in storage.
I’ll ask, as I’m going to see him today.

has Kermit Weeks ever owned a Hurricane?

Unlikely as I believe they are all given female names. So there is more chance of a Hurricane Miss Piggy
Hmmmm.
