Thanks Brisfite and John, found the pictures in the books and sent copies to the son of the pilot for his birthday…LJ975 has proved a bit more difficult. The chaps dad mainly flew these two aircraft, LJ975 to Arnhem, later taking Stirling V`s from Stoney Cross to India until 1947.

Stirlings LJ975 and LJ995
Have now located my copy of ” Rivenhall The History of an Essex Airfield” by B A Stait and it has a full side of LJ995, also grainy, credited to A Murrie.
Also of possible interest the book includes a paragraph describing the demise of LJ995 crashing after take-off at Lanham Green, fortunately W/C Drax the pilot and his crew scrambled clear with only minor injuries, lucky, Bushwacker was bombed up with 24 500 pounders !

Brisfite beat me to it 🙂
There is a very small grainy photo of LJ995 in The Stirling Story (Bowyer p297) accredited to ‘Cherry’ Cherrington.

Stirlings LJ975 and LJ995
Interesting picture of LJ995 8Z-H “The Bushwacker” in “Stirling at War” by Jonathan Falconer, it shows the applied nose art and details of its content. Also featured are six members of crew standing under the nose.
No photo of LJ975 8Z-D but it was not SOC until June 47 so you can be sure there is one out there somewhere.
If you are interested in the photo of “The Bushwacker” I will scan it to you.
Best wishes brisfite41
