When I was at Southend Museum on Friday evening, this book caught my eye.

RAF Southend 1940 (Oct) – 1944 (Aug)
It’s written in a day to day diary format. It does contain quite a few mundane
entries, such as comings and goings of personnel. As well as sometimes lacking in detail, such as :
Giving the serial number of a Spitfire which crashed on the airfield, but not how serious it was.
Overall though it’s worth a read, especially if you are local to the area, or just using for reference to
certain dates.
