A special day remembered.
The Dragon Rapide was the first aircraft my Father flew in when he joined the Fleet Arm Arm and so to be able to give him the chance to fly in one once again was truly magical.

Much missed.

A great hero to have, and from what we see I am sure he knew how you felt about him.

It is sad when our parents leave, even though inevitable.

You and your family have my sympathy.

Thank you for sharing a wonderful tribute to your father. No man can be a greater hero to a son than a father and to truly know that your own is and was that hero, well, i’ll let you choose your words.

I read this yesterday and have followed the posts. I was so moved by, not only the esteem in which you held your father, but the fact that you shared it with us. My own father died some years ago but was also a hero to me and influenced me hugely, so I can empathise with you at this time.

My commiserations but also gratitude for allowing us a window to a fine man, with whom you were able to share so much.

JBS.
Condolences on your loss.
Photos from Anthorn seem very rare,do you have any more you could share as some convenient time in the future?

Great tribute and pics jbs. Sorry for your loss.

All fine ships your Dad served on. In the thick of it during WW2, Korea and Suez. I had an Uncle on Illustrious at about that time. Alas, he’s long gone too.

Very best wishes
Bill

A lovely post and tribute to you father, I lost both of my parents in the past few years, my mum only last April, and I took my son up for his first ever flight in that same Dragon Rapide a few years ago, and that was remarkable for us, I hope he will remember it as you and your father did.
