Years ago I read a non fiction book about the workings of airports in general. I seem to remember a lot was about heathrow but included others too. At a guess it was published in the 1970s and the cover if I remember correctly was a yellowish colour and had a photo of I think a 707 landing with the threshold lights sillhoetted.
I thought it was called ‘Airport’ but this just brings up info on the novel for the 70’s film Airport.
Does this ring any bells for anyone at all?

Funny hearing about that book after all these years – I have still my copy. There was something compelling about (for the time it was written) the mind-boggling stats and, if I recall correctly, hair-raising stories from ‘airside’ that the public don’t get to hear. A good book, although I havn’t read it for 30 odd years!
