Interesting, a couple of years ago Flypast ran an article on this restoration & in it they mentioned that a DVD was planned to be produced documenting the project.
Anyone know if this is still in the offing ?

Ah, thanks for clarifying. For me “inhibiting” sounded a bit more … terminally.

Close…..you pour, or pump, oil in! πŸ˜‰

It is a fully reversible process; designed to β€˜inhibit’ corrosion until the engine is needed again.

I am curious, how do you inhibit an engine? Do you pour concrete into the cylinders (silly suggestion, I know) or what?

Looks great- shame we couldn’t have an engine run out of it though…

If I remember correctly that Merlin has only 15 hours ‘on the clock’!
But of course was inhibited.

Looks really good and look forward to seeing it soon – it was beginning to look a bit sorry for itself. Only niggle is that it is a shame no photos seem to have emerged of the restoration – I was really looking forward to identifying a few of my Defiant bits πŸ™

Perhaps if you contacted them and sent some photos they could help?
There can’t be much they haven’t seen. When I have visited them they do have photos for their reference.

Let’s just hope more care is taken transporting it back to Hendon than the Battle recieved.

It looked super when I viewed it a few weeks back.

Arrival of the Me 109 must be just around the corner, then!

I’m very glad to finally see the stunning result of MAPS’s labours. Well done all and what a super aeroplane! πŸ˜€
