The Aviation Museum of the Aviation University of Air Force (AUAF) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was officially opened on the afternoon of August 31, 2012 at the flight basic training base of the AUAF in Changchun, capital of northeast China’s Jilin Province.

The Aviation Museum of the AUAF is the only large aviation-themed exhibition hall in northeast China. The museum, which took two and a half years in construction, owns five floors in all with an exhibition area of 5,600 square meters. It is divided into exhibition area of the Aviation School of the Northeast Democratic United Army, exhibition area of the AUAF, aviation elite exhibition area, and aeronautics and astronautics exhibition area. The imitation of the re-entry capsule of the Shenzhou spacecraft that Yang Liwei, a Chinese astronaut, presented to his Alma Mater is also collected in the museum.

On the fourth floor of the aviation museum, there are 100 fighter models of China, the United States, Germany, Britain, Canada, Japan and Russia, etc. All of these models are made by a flight instructor of the AUAF.

In the 7,000-square-meter outdoor exhibition area, there are eight active-service airplanes.

The museum is conferred the titles of the “Patriotic Education Base” and the “National Defense Education Base” by the Jilin Provincial People’s Government and the Changchun Municipal People’s Government respectively.
The Aviation Museum of the AUAF is officially opened to the public from August 31, 2012.

I read that as Newark Air Museum opens in China!

Got as far as considering if they had made replicas of everything before I relaised my mistake. 😮

Who’s been talking – it was meant to be a secret?? 😀

Good god! What have they done to that Mosquito! The P40 in the background looks in a bad way too.

They are crude replica’s containing some original parts (in the Mossie’s case only the rotted remains of the wings and some bits). Well, it’s betetr than nothing! Saw them in 2008, interesting museum.

If you are going to post my photos, it would be polite to at least acknowledge the source……

That photo of the Mosquito(?) is mine – taken at Xiaotangshan (Datangshan) on 14 November 2010…….

So apart from the ‘100 models’ what are the ‘eight active service aircraft’ there?
