It’s a good book, but it raises more questions than it answers. Calder takes as gospel that airlines save lots of money by abolishing proper check-in (in favour of stampede “free seating” boarding) and not dealing with connections.

But how much money does this actually save? Not a huge amount, I wouldn’t have thought. It’s just penny pinching for the sake of it.
