Our Wessex HU.5 XT486 restoration is getting to the point of paint. Can anyone provide the paint codes (I’m assuming BS numbers) for the scheme she would have had during the Falklands campaign? I believe it to be a very dark green over black, but not sure what shade.
Thanks
Bob

Thanks for the input folks – paint ordered. And if I could order a can of patina, I’d happily give it a coat of that too!

Never saw any of ’em looking as pristine as that on any of my 7 long Dets to Stanley. Mostly covered in zaps, mud, crap, and other unmentionable fluids/semi-solids!! Make it realistic!!

Pity it has to be in the Falklands scheme as I always prefered the earlier sand and spinach camouflage colours worn in the ’60s

Aeroventure have done a cracking job of their Wessex, also in the green drab colours…

This reminds me of getting a lift by a RN Wessex to/from SS Uganda/Ascension in ’83 and ’84 – memorable for having no military serial number visible – at all. I remember this because I wanted to log it in my ‘aircraft I have flown in’ book.

For an HU5, it would be overall BS381C 298 OIlive Drab
