Hello All
We are just about to carry out repairs to the wings of Lightning XS420 where they were cut for transportation many years ago. Currently the repair has been made using fairly thin aluminium in sections. This has been prone to warping as the wings do get very warm in the sun.
We propose to replace the current ali with a continuous piece of a thicker gauge. My question for any airframe bods out there is –
What would be the suggested gauge of the ali be, so as to avoid warping and to still look astheitcally OK ?
We want the repair to not look obvious yet to be robust.
Any answers or advice most gratefully received.
All the best.
