A nice JU88 seat?

Hi Guys,

have a look at this nice seat I found at a farmer’s place in the South of France.

This would very much look like a JU88 seat and the markings show something like: “R8-5009-10”:

your confirmation of the aircraft type would be welcome.

best regards.

You are great, guys.

Now, I look for the balance of the aircraft.

Cheers!

right, Andy, there is a “108” at the end of the line starting by “R8..” on the first airframe picture.
So, an Me108 ??
If I managed to know more, I ‘ll let you know;
Gilles

Gilles the number immediately after the R8- is the aircraft id.

e.g. R8-88.942-8802 was stamped on a Ju88 handle.

The FW190 Landing flap is R8-190. XXXXXX

Some good 88 seat images here – your seat looks very very similar to the pilots…

This is the Ju88 at Gardermoen

Not a great comparison picture, but there’s certainly similarities visible

Its looks to me as if there are some cast components in the seat framework (at the bottom) and if you look at those you should find R8 again, however it ought to be R8 followed by the aircraft type; ie R8-88 or R8-108 etc. This was the norm for Luftwaffe aircraft, and it may well provide you with a definitive answer as to type.

From memory the Ju88 pilot seats had a higher back for protection, might be from one of the other positions.
Nice find 🙂

Hi Andy,

No, I am not sure at all of the aircraft type.

The witness I met (over 80++) mentioned to me “FW190” but I don’t trust very much his aircraft knowledge.

Then, I had other comments it could be JU88.

He115 ? I don’t think so, I am in the Toulouse area and I don’t think we had He115 flying here.

So, I do not know the aircraft type and I wish I could identify it with certainty.

All best

Gilles

It is a very nice item, but are you sure it is Ju 88?

It doesn’t look quite right.

I think I can see 108 at the end of the number commencing R8…?
