Hi all,
a long time ago I was at the crash-site of a Lancaster in Ysselsteyn in Holland. This particular Lancaster is mentioned in Lancaster at War III, I think there’s even a photograph of it in it. I’m almost certain the Lancaster was coded JO-Z. Can anyone here tell me which serial number it had?
Thanks in advance
Peter

Hi Folks,
many thanks for your input. My particular interest in this aircraft results from the crash-site being nearby; about ten miles from where I live.
The circumstances of the crash are well described in “Lancaster at War III”. All the crew parachuted to safety and where brought across the German lines by a Dutch family called van Lipzig. I got all phone-numbers from the van Lipzig’s living in Ysselsteyn from the directory inguiries and the first call I made was to the right person, he was the nephew of person that helped the crew and he also took me to the crash site. Though it was clear that the site had been investigated before I collected a few pieces (that I no longer have) including an impressive chunk of fuselage and the muzzle of a Browning. I’m thinking about going back again soon.
